Overall Grade - A-



There were many good things I saw in this presentation. Now its time to take it to the next level and start innovating more. Move away from using the text book as a guide and use it as a resource.

Presentation
The title was how to make things. Are there other lessons where you make things other than ice pops? If not change the title of the lesson to reflect what you are doing.

You did one very awesome thing with the lead in story. You asked the students to predict what the lesson was about. This is a very important skill that students need to learn. You should be employing this strategy every day. Still don’t forget to reiterate the objective with a little more detail.
I like that the students are numbered and that you can quickly randomly call on a student. Student #12 was good with the answer. This tactic forces all the students to be prepared with an answer. Even so, I hope you are learning the names of the students.
Vocabulary
You did a great job with this, but the choice of vocabulary was awful. This is where you need to be an innovative teacher and choose more appropriate words for your students. It looks like there was 4 words. At this rate the students will be fluent in English at the age of 50. (LOL!!) Seriously, these kids can handle 10 words and make sure they all relate to making things or making ice pops as it were.
After using the artificial pronunciations use your own voice to show the pronunciation. This will convey an air of confidence in your teaching ability. It should also lead to kids being less shy to speak to foreigners.
I like how you pointed out the “t” sound at the end of “night.” This proves to me that you can teach pronunciation without help. It was also very good to see you have students connect what they did at home at night with the word. Develop this strategy into a regular routine.
These kids should also be putting these words into a notebook. It’s a crucial part of the learning process.
Text 2 Simple Past
Overall a good job with simple past tense.
On your slide you had Past Simple Tense. Watch out for mistakes like that.
When teaching verb tenses it really helps to show students a timeline also. Keep in mind for other verb tense lessons.
Once again, have all students write down key structures and ideas into a notebook.

Passage
At this age the students should be able to read the passage on their own. Have them read it silently and then choose a couple of students to read it out loud to the class.

Task Cycle 1 – Matching
This was a little too simple. Should be more challenging

Task Cycle 2 – Jigsaw
This was a really good activity. The directions you gave were done well, will be smoother and smoother with experience. You gave a time limit to the students. Keep using those time limits. Keep things moving. Would be good to remind kids to move their desks quietly to cut down on unnecessary noise. You also told the students they will “present about answers”, no preposition there. It’s just “present answers.”
One thing that could have made this better was to have a different question for each group. This would have cut down on having all the groups present the same 5 answers.

Post Task
This was a good activity also. Here again, call on individuals to read any of the text on the screen, no unison reading. What you can say is “Read silently along as Johnny reads the directions out loud.”
Maybe you could have stressed the point a little more for the students to be creative when choosing what fruit they put into their ice pop creations.

Safety
If work crews don’t remove items like ladders out of the rooms keep your students out of the line of danger. You don’t want to have to deal with a tragedy of the ladder falling on a student or students and seriously hurting them.
