Interest / Things

Overall Grade : C+

Throughout the video I saw that the students were very well behaved. I would like to think that this is a sign of good classroom management.

Presentation
-Tell the students why they are listening to the song. Don't just say listen carefully. Give it a purpose.
-Walk around the room while the song is playing.
-Is it possible for the students to have a paper copy of the words to the song?
-Good job attending to the student who was not paying attention.
-No unison reading. Call on individual students to read the words. Then sing together.

Vocabulary
-Students should have a notebook for vocabulary words. Students need a hand written record so they can go back and study when needed.
-When presenting words like "sneakers" you should supplement with other common words such as "tennis shoes".
-I hope you are supplementing the vocabulary list so they are getting 15-20 new words per week. This is necessary to get them ready for university at age 18 and not age 60 when only doing 5-6 words a week.

Structure
-Connect lesson to prior knowledge. What have they learned that is similar to "this". "that", "these", "those"?
-Good job illustrating the distance concept with the pen.
-Good job reminding students to use English in English class.
-Students should have a notebook for their grammar structures. Students will learn more quickly with pencil in hand.

Conversation
-No unison reading. Choose two students to come to the front of the room to role play the conversation.

Communicative Practice
-You did a good job with providing instructions for the My Bedroom activity although the grammar you used was not the best. Say, "I will give you a worksheet."
-good to see you give the 10 minute time limit. This should be done on a consistent basis with every activity.
-You did a great job of connecting the grammar structure to this activity.
-The activity could have been even better if you instructed the students to include 2-3 things in their room that was not on the list that was provided. This is how you make education relevant and more interesting to the students.

Meaningful Practice
-Before you give the instructions on the activity you need to tell the students why they doing the activity. They should know what you want them to learn from the activity.
-The instructions for this activity were very clear and thorough, much better than the Bedroom activity.

At this point I kept getting error messages and could not watch anymore of the video.
Please make sure you are keeping the discs clean and scratch free.
